Tower is built through ascending, layered forms that establish a restrained sense of order.
This vertical structure reflects ideas found in Chinese philosophy—self-cultivation, balance, and life’s progression—while also echoing the Buddhist notion of a path of practice.

Human figures appear at different levels within the tower,
suggesting an inward and upward process rather than a literal ascent.
They do not represent specific identities,
but instead point to the individual’s place within time, structure, and self-awareness.

In Chinese cultural context, the tower functions as a spiritual symbol—
a metaphor for accumulation, awareness, and inner growth.
Through repeated ink marks and carefully paced empty space,
the work maintains a quiet, meditative presence,
inviting reflection on the relationship between order, practice, and existence.

He Jun

He Jun (b. 1971) is an independent contemporary ink artist whose work operates within a distinctly international visual language.
Through sustained observation of society and philosophical reflection, he has developed a rare approach that combines global contemporary thinking with the discipline of ink painting.

Working with extreme restraint, He Jun demonstrates exceptional control over space, rhythm, and minimal gesture—where meaning emerges through absence rather than excess.
Such mastery of ink, especially within sparse compositions, requires decades of continuous practice and refinement, making his artistic language both highly demanding and increasingly rare in contemporary art.

He Jun is a member of the National Watercolor Society (U.S.).
