1941 is a large-scale ink work rooted in a historical narrative from the Nazi era.
Rather than reconstructing specific events, the work adopts ink as a restrained visual language to preserve a moment that once genuinely existed.

By condensing vast historical experience into a single pictorial surface, narration is deliberately subdued.
The image becomes a form of record—
one that offers no conclusions and imposes no judgment, allowing time itself to leave its trace.

In this work, ink transcends its regional origins and functions as a cross-cultural medium.
It remains faithful to reality while maintaining distance; restrained in expression, yet carrying substantial weight.
The work invites viewers to reflect, interpret, and revisit history through their own perspective, rather than receiving a predetermined narrative.

He Jun

He Jun (b. 1971) is an independent contemporary ink artist whose work operates within a distinctly international visual language.
Through sustained observation of society and philosophical reflection, he has developed a rare approach that combines global contemporary thinking with the discipline of ink painting.

Working with extreme restraint, He Jun demonstrates exceptional control over space, rhythm, and minimal gesture—where meaning emerges through absence rather than excess.
Such mastery of ink, especially within sparse compositions, requires decades of continuous practice and refinement, making his artistic language both highly demanding and increasingly rare in contemporary art.

He Jun is a member of the National Watercolor Society (U.S.).
