Wang Jingjing | 王晶晶

Contemporary Chinese Gongbi Artist | Creator of the Blue Lotus Series

Wang Jingjing is a contemporary Chinese gongbi painter whose work explores tranquility, spirituality, and the emotional resonance of color. Since 2023, she has devoted her practice to the Blue Lotus Series, a body of work that reimagines one of China's most enduring cultural symbols through a restrained monochromatic palette and meticulously layered brushwork.

Rather than painting directly on white paper, Wang first hand-tints each sheet with translucent layers of blue pigment before beginning the composition. This distinctive process transforms the paper itself into an integral part of the artwork, allowing lotus flowers to emerge gently from fields of light, mist, and silence.

Her paintings balance the precision of traditional Chinese gongbi with a contemporary visual language. Through subtle tonal variations and extraordinary technical control, Wang creates works that evoke stillness, contemplation, and timeless elegance while remaining deeply rooted in Chinese artistic heritage.

A graduate of the Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts, Wang studied Color and Visual Arts in France before completing her Master's degree in Chinese Landscape Painting. She is a member of the China Artists Association and several leading professional art organizations in China and Canada.

Her work has been presented in solo exhibitions in Xi'an, Shanghai, Toronto, and Beijing, and has appeared in numerous exhibitions in China and abroad, including France and Canada. Through the Blue Lotus Series, Wang continues to introduce contemporary Chinese gongbi painting to an international audience.
