Overview

Nine Auspicious Horses is inspired by one of the most enduring symbols in Chinese culture. The horse represents strength, determination, vitality, and forward momentum, making it a powerful emblem of success and prosperity.

The composition features nine beautifully decorated horses arranged in harmonious balance. Each horse incorporates traditional auspicious motifs associated with wealth, honor, longevity, career advancement, and good fortune. Together, they create a visual expression of progress, achievement, and positive energy.

Rich in symbolism yet refined in presentation, the artwork combines traditional Chinese decorative aesthetics with a clean, contemporary presence suitable for modern interiors.

Craftsmanship & Cultural Heritage

This artwork is created using Nanjing Yunjin, one of China's most celebrated silk weaving traditions and among the highest achievements of traditional Chinese textile craftsmanship.

Originating in Nanjing, China, over 1,600 years ago, Yunjin was historically used for imperial garments, ceremonial textiles, and court decoration due to its exceptional complexity and refinement. The name "Yunjin," meaning "Cloud Brocade," reflects the luminous and richly layered appearance of the fabric.

Unlike printed textiles, this piece combines traditional Yunjin weaving with detailed embroidery techniques. Raised silk threads and metallic accents create a subtle three-dimensional texture, giving the horses remarkable depth, richness, and visual presence.

Materials include:

• Nanjing Yunjin Silk
• Mulberry Silk Threads
• Gold Metallic Threads
• Silk Backing Fabric

Recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage tradition, Nanjing Yunjin represents centuries of artistic excellence and craftsmanship. More than a decorative artwork, it is a cultural piece that carries the legacy of one of China's most treasured textile arts.
