Artwork Description

In Autumn Songbird, a small dark-feathered bird with a pale face and red beak leans downward from a twisting branch beside warm-toned fruit and autumn foliage. The sweeping branch connects the bird with the surrounding composition while the golden ground leaves generous space around its quiet downward gaze. Fine ink lines, subtly layered browns, and touches of russet and yellow create a restrained, intimate scene.

Artistic Style and Technique

Rooted in the Chinese bird-and-flower painting tradition (huaniao hua), the work combines controlled ink brushwork with detailed colour and an expressive sense of movement. The textured golden background is the gold-flecked Xuan paper itself. The artist's calligraphy and red seals remain visible, connecting the work to classical Chinese painting conventions.

Cultural Meaning and Inspiration

The bird among autumn branches evokes awareness, seasonal change and harmony with nature. Warmly coloured fruit suggests fullness and harvest, offering a gentle counterpoint to the bird's quiet presence. The narrow portrait format suits a study, reading corner, hallway, gallery wall or elegant intimate interior.

Framing and Display

The artwork is presented with a gold-coloured aluminium frame and white mat board. Please refer to the stated dimensions for wall placement. Some detail photographs may show reflections from protective glazing. Avoid strong direct sunlight and excessive humidity.
