In 2005, He Jun held his solo exhibition Zero Point.
The exhibition focused on the artist’s reflections on personal state, moments of transition, and inner perception during that period of his practice.
Zero Point does not represent an ending, but rather a moment of reset.
Standing between accumulated experience and the unknown ahead, the artist chose to return to his most instinctive sensibilities and judgments, re-examining the possibilities of painting itself.
Most of the works exhibited were created between 2004 and 2005.
The visual language is restrained and inward-looking. Emotion is not directly expressed, yet a quiet tension gradually builds through subtle details. Through the relationship between brushwork, structure, and empty space, the works reveal a balance between rational control and emotional sensitivity.
This solo exhibition marked an important stage in He Jun’s artistic development.
It reflects a shift from early exploration toward a clearer and more self-aware artistic language, laying the groundwork for the series-based practices that followed.
On the MAGICBEAR ART platform, we continue to present and showcase a selection of representative works originally exhibited in Zero Point.
Through MAGICBEAR ART, He Jun hopes that audiences from across the world can gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, and develop a clearer perception of what contemporary Chinese ink painting represents today.
