Artwork Description
Peach Blossom Spring Series No. 26 continues Feng Huafei’s exploration of rhythm, repetition, and imagined space through a distinctly contemporary visual language.
The composition is built upon a deep green field, layered with a subtle grid and countless small, repeated brush marks. Toward the center, these marks gradually shift into warm yellow and golden tones, forming a vertical area of light that seems to emerge from within the darker surrounding surface.
Rather than presenting a recognizable landscape, Feng Huafei approaches the idea of Peach Blossom Spring through atmosphere and perception. The illuminated center suggests an opening, a distant passage, or a hidden place slowly revealing itself, while the surrounding green creates a feeling of depth, quietness, and enclosure.
The painting changes noticeably with viewing distance. From afar, the central golden area appears almost like light filtering through a dense field. At closer range, the surface breaks apart into hundreds of individual gestures, subtle color transitions, grid lines, and traces of the artist’s hand.
This tension between structure and irregularity gives the work its particular rhythm. The grid establishes an underlying order, while the repeated painted marks remain varied and organic, preventing the surface from becoming mechanical or static.
Through this abstract treatment, the traditional cultural idea of Peach Blossom Spring is transformed into something less literal and more psychological: a place that may exist beyond the visible world, or perhaps within one’s own imagination.
With its deep green palette and concentrated golden center, the artwork has a calm yet visually distinctive presence. Its vertical format works especially well in contemporary living rooms, studies, entrance halls, offices, hotel interiors, and other spaces where a strong but restrained focal point is desired.
